Adi Kailash, also known as Chota Kailash, is a sacred mountain located in Uttarakhand district pithoragarh. It holds immense religious significance for Hindus and is considered to be an alternative abode of Lord Shiva, akin to the famous Mount Kailash in Tibet.

Adi Kailash Location-

Adi Kailash is situated in the eastern part of the Kumaon region of Uttarakhand, near the Indo-Tibetan border. It lies in the Himalayan range at an elevation of approximately 6,191 meters (20,312 feet).

Adi Kailash Yatra Season-

The best time to undertake the Adi Kailash Yatra is during the summer months, typically from May to October, when the weather is relatively milder and trekking conditions are favorable. However, weather conditions in the Himalayas can be unpredictable, so it’s essential to plan accordingly.

Adi Kailash Yatra Permits and Permissions-

Since Adi Kailash is situated near the border with Tibet, travelers may require permits from the local authorities for entry into certain areas. It’s advisable to obtain necessary permits well in advance of the journey.

Visitor need – Id Proof, Health check-up certificate, in-line permits and more.

Sample Itinerary

Day01- Pithoragarh

Arrival at Pithoragarh Hotel. Check-in at the Hotel

Day02- Pithoragarh – Dharchula

After breakfast, drive to Dharchula.
Reached Dharchula and we will get our paperwork for the Inner line Permit and Medical

Day03- Dharchula – Gunji

After Breakfast, proceed to Gunji.
Gunji is the base village for Adi Kailash and OM Parvat.
Evening reached, have dinner and rest here.

Day04- Gunji to Adi Kailash

Today early morning have breakfast and get ready for Adi kailash.
Reach at Jolingkong and move to adi kailash temple.
Evening back to Gunji and rest at gunji.

Day05- Gunji to Pithoragarh

Next day after breakfast move to Pithoragarh.
Evening reached here, have dinner and stay.

Day06- Pithoraghar to Kathgodam/Tanakpur

Today after breakfast move to Kathgodam/Tanakpur
